Congratulations to Mr Ramon Williams of Worldwide Photos. Mr Williams is a regular at all ACM’s events and related events over the years. In fact the cover photo used for our book ‘Free the Copts’ was taken by Mr Williams.
Mark Tronson of Press Service International, who was at the Melbourne ARPA Conference, September 6-7, wrote: “The 2013 ARPA – Australasian Religious Press Association – annual conference honoured Ramon Williams, now 82, with a special citation for exceptionally meritorious service to the Christian community, specifically to Christian media, for 50 years.

”Way back in 1987 Ramon Williams was awarded ARPA’s top prize the Gutenberg Award, and now a quarter of a century later, ARPA has once again honoured him. His unique Christian news distribution service has the motto: ‘Telling others what others are doing for the Lord.”

The Citation reads:

“Special Citation

Ramon Williams

When an email from Ramon Williams crosses your desk, it includes the tag line: ‘Telling others what others are doing for the Lord’. This sums up Ramon’s ministry as a conduit for Christian news and photographs, in Australasia and around the world.

Tonight the Australasian Religious Press Association takes great pleasure in honouring Ramon Williams with a Special Citation for exceptionally meritorious service to the Christian community, and specifically to Christian media, for 50 years.

Between 1959 and 1967, Ramon and his wife Dorothy served as missionaries in Indonesia with the Worldwide Evangelical Crusade (WEC). Their audio-visual work for WEC developed into an independent mission (Worldwide Photos) which serves missionaries and Christian organisations by helping them more effectively promote their ministries.

Ramon’s photography is renowned and his images include many high-profile people. His work has won international awards and he has travelled widely on photographic assignments.  But it is also his work gathering and disseminating news that is of great assistance to Christian news services globally.

Often Christian media outlets have been alerted to a news item through one of Ramon’s emails. And what is less known perhaps is that this service functions as a faith ministry. Ramon makes no charge for it but relies totally on God’s provision. Truly, a man of faith!

In 1987, Ramon Williams was the recipient of ARPA’s Gutenberg Award. Now, more than a quarter of a century later, we are pleased to recognise him again. Ramon’s dedication and commitment to spreading the Good News of Jesus Christ and supporting missions through the Christian media is acknowledged with sincere and grateful thanks.”

Upon hearing of the Citation, Ramon Williams responded with the following statement, to be read out, at the Conference in Melbourne:

I would like to say how grateful and humbling it is to be acknowledged by so many hard workers, for a job I love doing – helping you in every way possible in your special and unique ministries.

“Yes, there have been the non-stop, work-through-the-night occasions, so as to help someone meet their deadline the next morning.

“But there has also been the satisfaction in seeing some event being reported in print, especially on the front page, which has encouraged someone serving the Lord, in what they are doing.

“The Lord has directed into many challenging situations but He is always there, waiting to help.

“Also alongside has been my wife Dorothy. Breakfasts at 4.00am – late night meals – support and understanding have helped along the way.

“All has been done for love – love for the Lord who leads – love for those doing special jobs and can use a bit of support – love in serving others.”

In closing, this sums it up:

“As the Father has loved me so have I loved you. Now remain in my love. If you obey my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have obeyed my Father’s commands and remain in his love. I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete.”
