Sydney Police seek assistance re attack on Coptic Diocese offices

The Coptic Orthodox Church, Diocese of Sydney and Affiliated Regions have issued a further statement regarding the attack on the diocese offices last Sunday 7th of September 2014.

Dear beloved brothers and sisters in Christ,

Below is the official communication from the NSW Police regarding the recent incident at the Diocese.

About 8:30am on Sunday the 7th of September 2014 a fire broke out within a premises associated with

Coptic Church diocese in Arthur Street, Bexley. Police are investigating the suspicious nature of this fire and have reports

a male was seen leaving the premises moments before the fire. The male is described as being approximately 40 years of age, 167cm tall, olive

complexion, chubby build with dark facial hair. This person was wearing reading glasses, a light grey coloured knee high jacket, and long pants. The

person was last seen walking in an easterly direction along Arthur Street, Bexley.

The fire scene has been forensically examined and Police are awaiting the results of this testing. Police are now seeking the assistance of members of

the public including the Coptic Church for any information that may assist in the investigation.
